2023: Opening new compost bin. It is made of recycled hog wire, recycled plastic fencing, and breathable landscape fabric. A minimum diameter of 36″ is required for hot composting to work.

End of the garden season, ready for winter meals.

Last mowing of the season.  The bright red foliage in the sunken white tubs are blueberry bushes. The tubs have holes in the bottom for drainage and contain the more acidic soil that blueberries like. The tubs will also make it possible to move them closer to the edge of a future retaining wall (blueberry roots don’t like to be transplanted, so the whole tub will be moved).

Linda designed and planted my garden for 2022 – it has been the most visually attractive.

2016:  In November 2015, I allowed a woman to live in her RV outside my house and shared my kitchen, bathroom, and laundry area with her while also connecting electricity and internet to her RV where she lived with her dog, 5 cats, and a rat.

She had a beautiful assortment of house plants from the  sale of her former house required in her divorce.
The city required her to move her RV by Christmas eve, but her plants stayed with me  as she and her RV and pets moved 11 times before she was finally employed the following August. In the spring of 2016 she planted my first vegetable garden here. I have planted a garden myself in each subsequent year. In 2022 she was able to buy a house for herself.
